I'm trying to add a 2nd HD to an IBM Netvista computer. I can't do
it because the ATA cable is not long enough. It is 6" between the
master and slave plugs but to connect the two HDs, it'll need a
cable with a length of 6 1/2". I have five ATA cables. None of
them are long enough to connect the two drives.

Someone must have added a 2nd drive to an IBM Netvista. How is
that done?

Get a cable with more distance between the drive connectors.
