64MB!
For most people the best results!

Steve, dont worry too much about the ap size. Its become like the 4x AGP
versus 8x AGP (no benefit). With the advancements in graphics chips these
setting are all but obsolete and any differences in performance will not be
noticeable or at the most, negligible.

It also depends on what your bios will allow. My bios only allows either
128 or 256. I've tried both settings and noticed NO difference. There is
much debate on the ap size (and the GART table, but that is another debate!)
and people will argue over low or high settings till it becomes a flame war!
So don't worry. Leave it at wotever its set at, or test a game (ala
benchmark) with various settings. I bet you don't see any difference with
your setup.

I keep mine set to one-fourth my system RAM or the size of the memory on my video card, whichever is
greater. No noticiable difference between the two.

generally you have ap half your system ram but i always choose 128mb will
work fine there isn't any real difference anyway. Smile

I did heaps of research on this subject a while ago. I read a couple of
reviews where several systems had been extensively tested with all available
settings and it pretty much came down to 128MB is the way to go, pretty much
regardless of graphics card RAM or system RAM amounts. (Assuming that all
systems have 256MB or better). Anything higher or lower than 128 gave worse
results, albeit only fractionally.

Now I wish I'd kept the urls to back this up, although some of them were
pretty heavy going to read and understand. All about GARTs etc, which I
finally managed to get my head around at the time. But ask me now..........

I agree with an AAS of 64 Mb or 128 Mb for a 64 Mb video card. From
what I've read, the AAS (AGP aperture size) should usually not be less
than the amount of RAM on the video card, and not more than twice the
amount of RAM on the video card.
These figures could be decreased if you have less than 256 Mb system
RAM, or increased if you have more than 512 Mb.
If you have a video card with a small amount RAM, it might be better
to increase the AAS because it is more likely the video card will run
out of RAM for textures and need to use system RAM. But this could
cause problems if there is a small amount of system RAM.
