Hey, is there any one really using an Athlon 64 based machine **RIGHT NOW**?
I mean are you actually reading this news group on an Athlon 64 box or have
one right beside you?

What OS are you using?
64bit Linux? --- what are the apps you use on daily basis?
64 bit XP beta? -- How does it feel?

The reason to ask is I am seriously considering to order one for my next
upgrade, in less than 3 months, and I want to see some real world user
feeling. Smile

Don't throw me to bunch of review sites, please Smile ... I have read 90% of
them, if not all.

It was a dark and stormy night, and oldcat managed to scribble:

The infamous 'Uncle Al' is using it for number crunching, & the results are so impressive I want one!

I'm on a dual Opteron with a Tyan motherboard. It's very nice!

I've got it running 32 bit Windows XP as well as 32 bit RedHat. I
have another RH install that has a 64 bit kernel and the rest of the
libraries are still 32 bit.

I tried several 64 bit Linux distros and found them all unstable or
incompatible with various apps (like Java) but my 32 bit RedHat with a
64 bit custom kernel is very fast and completely stable.

I do some Java development, use Eclipse for an IDE and play a decent
amount of Unreal Tournament. I've had no problems at all. I would
recommend this platform to anyone.

Athlon XP 2500+ How Hot is to Hot? - Hi, How hot is too hot for the Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton"? I've had one spotaneous reboot in three days and I'm concerned. I've seen it up around 107 F occasionally. Too hot? What's the maximum?

AMD Athlon 3000 / 400 Mhz FSB - Hi folks, When looking for a Processor, I found that AMD offers a 3 year warantee on 3200/400 and 3000/333 but not the 3000/400. The 3000/400 is also not sold in a retail box, and dealers seem to give ~ 30 day warantee for them. Any clues ?..

Athlon 64 3200+ - Have ordered a rather elaborate system (locally-built) around this chip (w/Gigabyte nForce 3 board). Has anyone any experience with similar setup yet? Thanks in advance.

Is an Athlon XP 2500+ better than a 2400+? - I ordered a system with an Athlon XP 2400+, which is (i think) a 2 Ghz processor. I received a system with an Athlon 2500+, which sells for $20 more but is (I think) a 1.833 Ghz processor. Should I be pleased about having gotten a more expensive..

athlon pro 2800+ vs athlon xp 2800+ - Hi, ECS sells mainboards (L7VMM3) with integrated Athlon PRO 2800+. I would like to know the differences between that cpu and the athlon XP 2800+. Thanks.
