I have a Compaq PC that has 2 1.1 USB ports built into the
motherboard. I can currently boot into DOS with a Win 98 Boot
Diskette ( have Win 2k using Fat 32) and access my USB devices such as
my external hard drive from Acomdata.
I am wondering if I were to disable the USB device in the CMOS and
install an internal 2.0 PCI USB 5 port card internally if I could
still boot into DOS and access my hard drive? I ask this question
simply because the current USB (1.1) is built into the motherboard and
my desired config would be a faster 2.0 internal card. Not sure if I
could boot into Dos and have the same functionality (ie access the
card).
Thanks in advance for all of your replies, thoughts. My goal is to
simply have a faster connection to my USB 2.0 hard drive. Access via
DOS is in case of emergency using Ghost and such in the event I cannot
boot into Windows.
Thanks so much
Joe
