My wife's two year old Abit KR7-A/133R system started refusing to boot. No
errors, no beeps, nothing. Fans spinning, but no signal to the monitor.
Switched the video card to my pc and it works fine. Tried taking out each
of two memory sticks, nothing. Removed all memory, keboard and mouse and
nothing. At this point I thought it was supposed to at least give me some
beeps about missing memory or keyboard?

Anyway, replaced MB with new Abit KV7 - Same issue.
Replaced CPU and fan - nothing.

Before I buy new memory and Power supply s there anything else I should
check?
The old power supply is only 330W but she does not have a high power video
card. If I replace it I'll probably go to a 450 or 500W but would a bad PS
cause these symptoms?

How are you connecting all the devices to the powerbox? how many fans,
hard disks and cd drives are in the machine?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

When I was testing with the new motherboard it had the Video Card, CPU fan,
one hard drive, one floppy and one CDROM. No other case fans or cards. Alos
tried switching monitors just to rule that out and the other monitor would
not get a signal either.

make sure you are connecting the cd-drive and HD on seperate power lines
and with the KV7 it needs both motherboard power connections (a big one and
a little square one) plugged in.

a lot of powersupplies are iffy and dont like too much power draw on one
power line, try to spread the draw over all the lines coming from the
powerbox. I have exerienced, several times, once with a KV7, the effects
you describe in the first post and this has always been the solution.

Where is your monitor power coming from? it is always best for it to get
its juice from its own plug.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Monitor is plugged into the power strip. I see the second square power
connector on the motherboard, but the power supply has no plugs that would
fit this and the my retail KV7 did not come with any adapters for it either.
Should this have come with the motherboard if it was a required connection?
Or is this a common plug that newer power supplies come with?

Oops! There we go, you need this plugged to your PSU, most modern PSU's come
with this plug, you need to get an adapter or a new PSU.
