Looking to build a new computer for gaming and general home use (mostly
MP3/Digital photos use) as my main computer is actually a laptop. The laptop
is great but not good for gaming and I have the itch again. So my last 2
computers were home build Overclocked AMD's but I am really tired of the
huge cases and the damn noise from fans so I want a nice small high
preformance unit that I can use at home for the next 12 months or so and has
some upgrade potential. Also, I really think the momentum has swung back in
Intels favor for the forseeable future.

I am lookinjg at either the Shuttle SB75G2 or the new ST61G4 or maybe (not
likely) SN85G4.

Opinions?

Not sure this is what you want if you want quiet. You will find lots of
posts about noisy xpc's. You can get the Antec quiet case or the Sonata.
My son's Shuttle AB48PN, Celeron 1.7, Geforce FX5200, 40 gig hard drive is
so quiet, you can barely tell if it is on. Got the case at Best Buy for $69
or a better price at Newegg. I have the first XPC, the SV24. Works fine,
but noisy. These little things are good when you need a little unit. But
you can get similar performance from other Shuttle full size mobos and
regular cases such as the Antec.

Just my opinion. I know others love these little things.

I just assembled anew machine based on the SB75G2. Before that I owned a
SV24, this new box is more quiet and rocksolid. No more overheating, stable
with overclocking even and the PSU is more than enough even with my
Radeon9800.

I picked the 75 because I wanted the i875 chipset, and so far I'm very
pleased. Box is used for gaming mostly.

I have 2 x SB75G2 that operate as expected.
Built them because of User complaints about noise.
Both overclocked modestly: <10% w/FSB @ 1:1
Both w/1GB RAM installed (Corsair or Muskin).
Business apps + medium graphics use......and I expect occasional gaming.
Used ATI Sapphire 9600 "Ultimate" (heat pipe cooling for card, no fans on
card). I suggest that you take a look at these cards if noise reduction is a
reason for considering XPC.
All the XPC boxes I have built only have 1 x 7200rpm HDD installed, so I do
not have experience with 2 x HDD installed..
FWIW, the SB75G2 is the best XPC box I have seen, and the first I have used
twice (I have built 6 XPC systems).
