Post subject: I do not know what to buy
Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware>pc-homebuilt (more info?)

I want to buy a new computer. Here is a list of components and properties,
but it is not complete yet:
- CHIEFTEC DA01BDbq Maxi -case with Be Quiet.
- Socket 939 -motherboard (with Universal Plus Dual Power System. GIGABYTE?)
- 64-bit Socket 939 Athlon -processor (with SSE3 and the P4-like capability
to decrease clock frequency if the processor gets too hot. What about EFI?)
- 1 GB or more DDR or DDR2 memory (with ECC.)
- Graphics card. (I just do not know what kind of, but it must not be too
expensive. At least 256 MB of memory? PCI Express? GigaColor?)
- 300 GB hard drive (7200 rpm or more, SATA, high MTBF.)
- 1 Gbit/s Ethernet -card (with fullduplex capability. PCI is not fast enough
for it? PCI-Express?)
- Sound card. (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Ex?)
- USB keyboard (if it works also in the old OSes. Does it?)
- Laser mouse (or normal optical mouse if there are no cord laser mice)
- LG GSA-4160B -combo drive. (Are there better combo drives? What about
Type-I DVD-RAMs?)
- 2.88 MB 3,5" floppy drive. (Where can I buy it?)
- 1.2 MB 5,25" floppy drive. (Please, do not laugh; I just want to test old
stuff. Buy the way, where can I buy it?)
- LCD/TFT -monitor. (Again, I just do not know what kind of, but it must not
be too expensive. Lots of colours and fast refresh speed? I think 17" is big
enough.)
- Price: About 1000 - 1700 euros?

Please. Can you give me some advices?
