Is it ok to run 2 X 80m case fans from the motherboard (AI7) headers?
Seems to me it would be better to plug them directly into the power
supply.
TIA

As long as they don't exceed the power specs of the header it is.

I agree, it's safer.

Well, you then lose the ability to monitor the fan rpm's and to set
the bios to shut down the PC on cpu fan failure. But I do run mine
directly off the PSU anyway because when running my cpu fan off the mb
the fan would sometimes not power up when using the 60-70% bios
setting to limit the rpm's.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Some fans have a seperate wire you plug into the MB that monitors the fan
speed and the other connector plugs into the PS connector. DOUG<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've never seen any like that. But it is a good idea.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
