Post subject: cd drive modification
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>cd-rom (more info?)

I was wondering if anyone here has worked on the firmware or digital control
logic inside CDR/W drives and is willing to give me a few pointers. As part
of an electronics engineering project I would like to experiment with
recording images directly to the CDR: ie have software write bit patterns
directly to the CDR but I need to work out how to remove all hardware level
error correction firest to prevent it scrambling the recorded image. I would
prefer not to have to resort to making custom ide/cd controller hardware
from scratch.

Thanks
Mark
