Post subject: My computer freezes while playing

I have a very irritating problem with my computer. It freezes every time I start playing games such as Battlefield 2 but not in Windows. Once freezed, I cannot switch to windows using tab or close down the game with ctrl alt del. I can only reboot.
I have upgraded the drives for the motherboard, graphic card and the BIOS as well as I have switched the memory modules but the problem still occur. I even checked if the was a problem with my razor mouse USB connection which has caused similar problems. Please anyone, I have searched the net for answers but no one has as far as I´m concerned herad of it.

Heres my stats
Windows XP sp2
Asus motherboard
AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1,67 ghz
Nvidia Gforce FX5700VE
1024 mb memory (Corsair, 266)

What size power supply do you have?I had the same problem because my power
supply couldn't keep up with the demand for power my vid card made when
playing newer games.I also had it once due to the increase in heat from the
card under heavy use,an added fan took care of that.

Does your computer also freez with other games or just Battlefield 2? Of
so, check your memory, airflow and capacitors on your mainboard. When
things get hot, like when playing 3d games, unstable memory and instable
PSU's or boards can cause lockups. Do you have something like
benchmarkprograms? Try running one of those to see if your systeem still
freezes.

Thanks for the tip, power is just ok. I have thought of a heating problem, I think a fan for my graphic card could do the trick.

All games, no matter what but not programs in windows. I have tested benchmark programs, but I`m not sure how to fix "capacitors". With airflow who mean temperature no? How do I test and fix if my memory is unstable?

I had a similar problem. one way to tell. If you have a small tabletop
fan oh 6 inches or so, open up your machine and point the strongest
airflow into your computer especially the video card and CPU. If the
problem disappears then it is heat and a fan under your video card may
help. I did this and bought a cyclone fan that I could mount UNDER the
side of the video card with the components on them not the side with the
solder points
