how do i connect 2 pc and 1 drive

Post subject: how do i connect 2 pc and 1 drive
Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware (more info?)
i have a desktop computer, a notebook computer, and an external
firewire drive. I can connect both computers to the drive but if the
notebook is running the desktop can't see the files on the external
drive. can i somehow configure my system so that both computers can
share and use the drive simultaneously?

No. That would result in an OS conflict.

additional info: my internet connection is shared via a router, the
desktop is hard wired, the notebook via a wireless connection. there
are no available ethernet openings on the router.
