There are reports of people fixing dead pixels by gently tapping or rubbing
on or near the affected pixel. I didn't believe it for a second - until I
fixed a dead pixel on my brother's new RAD 5c.
A gentle rub (covering my fingers with cloth) made the pixel "flicker" back
to life, and it has been fine since.
Tapping is said to work, but be very careful - don't want to damage your
screen.
I have also read that a 'dead' or 'off' (black) pixel are the most likely to
be fixed with these methods. If it is stuck 'on' (red, green, blue, or
white) it is reported to be less likely to work.
Good luck, hope you don't buy have to buy a new one.

You'll need a little sheet of plastic, roughly 8.5mm x 5.5mm x 0.1mm.
They usually are labelled MC or VISA.

First, you need a very, very tiny soldering iron, and a very, very
large magnifying viewer...

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, the monitor is only 4months old, and has a 3yr
warrenty, but I dont think acer will do anything unless its more than 7 dead
pixels on the screen.
The dead pixel doesn't show if the screen is green or white, the actual
pixel appears green.
I have tried tapping / rubbing the screen but doesn't fix it.
Any idea how much it would cost to fix it, if it can be fixed at all. ?
Thanks
Mark

Not to my knowledge, no. Though, a fellow I work with has a laptop that had
a dead pixel for nearly a year (a red pixel) and it just fixed itself last
week for no known reason. *shrug*
It is as though the things have minds of their own.
There is always trepanation (on the LCD screen, not you) though I don't
recommend it...

Yes, and talking to it in soothing tones has a similar effect.
