The Thunder K8WE I RMA'd, and Tyan said was running
"just fine", was returned with their damned OEM CPU heat
sink mounts in place.

Well, I have a pair of Zalman 9500's - clearly, the
OEM mounts must be removed to accmoplish that. And hints?

This project is really starting to piss me off.

Well, Tyan tech support said "most people pull them
off", and if I was afraid of damaging the board, I could
RMA is (again) and request one with out heat sink mounts.

So, this evening, I looked at it very carefully, and
decided I could pry against the backing plate and the bar
that runs through the middle of the backing plate. That
way, I was not prying on the board itself, which would
have hosed the tracing on the back.

So, anyway, I removed them without damage to the
board, cleaned up the adhesive with Goo-Gone and alcohol,
so this weekend I'll try again.

This time, nothing is going into the chassis until
I have a POST on the monitor...
