Post subject: How to disable the Power Key?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>keyboard (more info?)

I just got a new keyboard that has a "Power" key directly under the Delete
key. This has to be the stupidest idea I have ever seen.

I'm sure someone woke up one morning and said "I have a great idea. Let's
put a key direcly under the delete key, one of the most used special keys,
that closes all open programs and turns off the computer with no
confirmation any time someone brushes it by accident. It will loose people
hundreds of hours of work and result in huge time and productivity losses."
This just had to be an idea hatched by someone who never used a computer in
his life.

I did some Google searches but came up empty, except for a program called "I
hate this key" that seesm like it would work. But I'll be damned if I'll
buy a program to make a piece of hardware work the way it's supposed to work
right out of the box.

Any help would be appreciated.
