Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>cd-rom (more info?)

Hi,

I've got a question that I'm hoping somebody in this newsgroup could help me
with. Can a DVD-(re)writable drive work with any motherboard's IDE
channels, or
is a bios upgrade needed with some motherboards to get the DVD-writable
drive to burn DVD's?

Specifically, I've got an older PC (PIII 450 128MB Win98FE) with an older
motherboard (Biostar M6TZA). Can I hook up any DVD-(re)writable drive up to
it
and be able to burn right out of the box?

Thanks in advance.
