Anyone know why a floppy drive would not work on a GA-P35-DS3R
motherboard. I have tried two different floppy drives and two cables,
but they just sit there and spin and won't boot or read anything.

Did you check youre biossettings..?
Floppy controller on, floppy format 1.44mb?
When the light on youre floppy drive always on then change(turn) the cable.
Boot option( floppy first, harddrive, cdrom)

Yes, the BIOS setting is correct and you can't get the cable on
backwards; it is keyed on both ends.

Well, it appears you were correct about the floppy drive cable being
installed wrong. I had noticed that pin 1 on the cable and pin 1 on the
circuit board were not on the same side, but since the cable key was
correct I did not think anymore about. You got me to thinking about
that again though and so just for giggles I forced it in the wrong way.
One of my floppies did boot once, but that was it. So, I am thinking
I have two bad floppy drives (one is missing a pin) with upside down
connectors. Hopefully the new one I ordered has the cable connector
installed correctly.
