Now, what did you do about the broken push-pin?

You should be aware that some system health applets don't really report the
actual chip temperature very accurately. TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool by
Intel) does report an accurate actual chip temperature and can also log
temperatures. You can use this log to view CPU core temperatures after
intense system loads (like games) that do not allow viewing temperatures
while the application is running.

Clearly the CPU overheating was the root cause. When a system crashes after
20 minutes of intense usage the cause is almost assuredly overheating. In
the past (before Windows 2000 came out), memory leaks (caused by poorly
programmed applications) could cause a crash after a long period of
operation (an early version of Internet Explorer had a problem with memory
leaks), but intensity of use was not a factor in crashes caused by memory
leaks.

Ordered some more in the shape of a replacement bracket (for a
different cooler) with push-pins included.
From www.QuietPC.com

I haven't actually changed any of the pins yet. So I just handle my
case extremely gently, and the Ninja is sitting tight. Next time I
open the case I will fit a new set of pins.
