Just now noticed the other errant post so disregard if you have already
performed the above swapping testing procedure. I wonder if the power
supply is functioning properly and able to supply the necessary current. I
recently bought a tester with voltage display and I now wonder how I got
along without it before.

One beep is good.

I recommend you use PS2 keyboard and mouse. USB may work but I have no
experience using that to enter BIOS.
From the manual: "To access the BIOS Setup program, press the <Delete>
key during the POST when the power is turned on. To see more advanced
BIOS Setup menu options, you can press <Ctrl> + <F1> in the main menu of
the BIOS Setup program."

I'm sure overclocking is in the future. I'm still moving files now. The
salesman at MicroCenter recommended a better cooling solution for
overclocking, the stock heatsink fan may not be enough.

FWIW I used a PS2 keyboard when I first booted up and had no problems
getting to the Bios.

I wouldn't think you would have any problems. I'm still left wondering
if USB kybd would also be able to navigate the BIOS. I have a suspicion
based on nothing that USB kybd support is built into the chipset with
that MOBO (and maybe other MOBOs too) and would be recognized as soon
as power is applied. I don't own a USB kybd so I can't test. Am I right
or wrong?

IF the CPU is no good you will most likely get no post, a blank screen,
but the fan will run.
Drivers do not affect the posting or the BIOS
It probably depends on how bad. I have had computers that run operating
systems with bad RAM but I would get unexpected reboots. If you have a
floppy drive you can get a RAM testing program from Microsoft's site. >> Stay informed about: NEW BUILD TROUBLESHOOTING |
