Noooo it just has some dx 9 support but really cant use it because it does
not have the power. If you can get a FX 5900 for $180.00. Its you best
upgrade and they fly.

If it's free and your GF3 is dying then go for it. If you don't like it
what have you lost other than a little time?

Try this site to compare the 5200 with others dave.
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html</a>

They have no geforce 3 listed but the radeon 8500 was in the same class.

Fx5200 ain't faster than gf3's by no means in real life. I know someone with
a faster computer than mine (tb1333 1gb sdr133 vs cel.2.4 512 ddr400) who
couldn't get detail in games at the same level as me (when I had gf3 ti200,
mems @500 since they were 4ns, and he was using the nvidia auto overclock),
for benchmarks, in 3dmark2003 score was almost the same lol, for 2001se it
was slightly faster but it didn't translate in games as NFSU/HP2 were it ran
really slower with same detail as I've said before.

Maybe... but doubtful... Even the 5600 is stubstandard to the Ti4200.

this is bull shit i know some one crap.
test it for your self i did.
same computer diferent cards and new install of xp each time and the FX5200
was faster than the gf 3 in almost everything.

i also tested the fx5200 against a ati 8500 and the 8500 was slightly
faster in most tests.
so its right between the ati 8500 and the gf 3 ti 200.

it ran most games just fine at lowered settings but it still ran them better
than the old gf 3 ti.

if you ask me the fx 5200 is nothing but a replacement to the MX line. its
cheap it works and it will run most games.

to this day i still have the 5200 in my back up computer and its still
runing great.
if your a gamer get a fast gameing card if not then try the 5200.

A free FX5200 card is way better than a dying GF3 card. Smile
