Yesterday Synology released firmware for the DS-101g+ and the DS-101j that adds support for MySQL
Main Changes from Last Release
Modified items
1. The previous versions limited the USBCopy capacity to 2GB; in the new version, the limitation is removed.
2. Guest account can not log in via FTP service.
3. Empty password account can not login via FTP service.
4. In the new release only user accounts, groups and share settings will be backuped/restored.
5. USB Backup is renamed to Local Backup.
6. Default Mac browser is changed to Safari for MAC OS 10.3 and after.
7. The new release supports 500GB external disk for both USB and SATA.
New Features
1. Anonymous FTP is supported now.
2. The new version supports PHP/MySQL. PHP is enabled by default, and MySQL needs user enabling. There are some limitations of PHP:
• The functions are not supported: mail(), system(), exec().
• The real path of the shared folder “web” is “/volume1/web”. Some applications require user to set the path in the configuration file.
• The configuration option “register_globals” of PHP is turned off.
3. Network Backup is supported in the new version, which allows Administrator to backup data from one Disk Station to another. This function requires both the
source Disk Station and the target Disk Station have the Network Backup service enabled.
4. The internal disk can be exported as a read-only USB share when it connects to a newly installed Disk Station using an IDE2USB kit.
Enhanced items
1. The email notifications require Administrator to enter an SMTP server; however, some SMTP servers need authentication to relay the notifications. In the new version, Administrator can enter the authentication data for the SMTP server.
2. Backup scheduler is enhanced in the new version.
3. In the new version Administrator has greater flexibility to control visitor’s access to Photo Station.
