Post subject: Is my hardware setup ok?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware (more info?)

This has to be a 1U system. I plan on setting up a raid 1+0 configuration,
and will be running FreeBSD 5.x
I am not that good with hardware, so maybe someone can help me out.. The
main questions i have are the following:
1. Is everything here compatable w/ each other.
2. Is it all going to fit in the case? There was some question about the
raid controller not fitting w/o a riser card. I think this "may" come w/ the
case. I am pretty sure this is the same case as the one on newegg -

3.Will it all be compatable w/ freebsd 5?

Thanks in advance!

Why do you want to use Xeon processors? Why not build a dual
Opteron 242 server instead? It would be close in price,
give you better performance, and allow you to upgrade
to 64 bit software when you are ready for it.

Noozer,
Thank you for your comments. I don't know what kind of mess I would have
gotten myself into if it wasn't for you.
