Need help with DVD burner

I have a virtually brand new DVD burner (HP DVD420e), and whenever I try
burning to DVD+R's I keep getting a power calibration error from Nero. I get
no error when burning to DVD+RW, only when burning to R. Can anyone tell me
what is happening and what I should do about this

I'm using Windows XP SP2, Nero 6.3.1.20, and have the most recent firmware
update.

Try different burn speed, and/or different media.
