Before I discovered this user group I assembled an SB51g, and had no
problems (although it made noise and ran hot). It was my first
attempt at messing around with a box. So full of confidence I ordered
an SB75g2, and really loaded it up -
3.2 g CPU, 160gb SATA Hitachi drive, 2 gb Corsair memory, Matrox
Parhelia 128mb video card, a Plextor CD DVD RW combodrive PX708A. I
ordered the larger 250 watt power supply from Shuttle as well as the 6
in one flash card reader, but they haven't arrived yet.
Well, I just turned it on, everything lights up fine, but "no
picture".
What is the most likely thing I have done wrong? Have not installed an
operating system yet.
Thanks,
JGT >> Stay informed about: Need some help with SB75g2 |

I have the same problem, but I haven't installed any RAM in my machine
so I thought that was the problem.
But now you posted this - and I am concerned.
P4 2.4 GHz, 160 SATA Seagate, MSI TI4400
Please write me if you've found a solution to the problem
Thanks

I turn the unit on to get power to load the CD, which I quickly do in
the first few moments. (I have tried both a Win2000 and a Mandrake
Linux installation CD as well as no CD.)
I get a flash of leds from the keyboard during the initial phase, but
no sustained led, no beeps either. I did hook up an external speaker.
The Matrox card appears to be securely inserted (I redid several
times). It has two digital output sockets, but it doesn't matter which
I hook up the monitor to, get same null result. The fan on the card
works.
I intended to have no floppy, so the CD drive is connected to IDE1 -
and I think I have the #1 pins lined up correctly.
The memory is a pair of the Corsair 3200 Twinx, each 1gb for a total
of 2gb.
Do I need a floppy to do any diagnostics? >> Stay informed about: Need some help with SB75g2 |

I just changed my monitor, from a Dell 19" LCD to a Dell CRT, using an
analog to digital adapter - and the system posted just fine! So
clearly the video card does not recognize the LCD monitor yet.
Everything was as it was supposed to be - CPU, memory was recognized.
Then I inserted the Win2000 installation CD - and after a while it
announced that I did not have a hard drive, i.e. it did not recognize
the SATA Hitachi drive.
Nice to know that everything else works so far. Now to figure out how
to recognize and format the drive. >> Stay informed about: Need some help with SB75g2 |

I found a place in the BIOS which had to be enabled to get the SATA
drive
recognized. Once that was done I was able to install Win2000, and
getting the LCD monitor recognized should now be routine. Sorry for
the trivial questions guys, but we old guys forget how we did things
the previous time.
Little box sure churns out the heat!

Without RAM you won't get anything, apart perhaps from some beeps and/or
flashing keyboard LED's. That's normal.

i am an ignerant pus, but i have ordered a similar (not as hot) 61G4 with an
SATA drive (Raptor 74) and what I hear is that installing SATA is a little
troublesome. If you are not aware of this great forum
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://forums.sudhian.com/categories.cfm?catid=43" target="_blank">http://forums.sudhian.com/categories.cfm?catid=43</a>
may I suggest you go there and ask--great people with scads of Shuttle
knowledge.
