put up the frontside bus speed to 100MHz. this should give you a 50%
overclock without much stress -> 900MHz. if it's an early 600 (cB0 step),
then you will most likely need to up the core voltage slightly (perhaps in
the region of 1.75-1.8V). if it's a later (cC0), my guess is that it will
go straight to 900. good luck!

Nice chip for OCing Smile AFAIK, all Celeron 600s are going to be 0.18 micron
Coppermine chips. That means 900 MHz should be possible with a lot of
chips. I used to run my C600 @ 900. It depends partly on the motherboard
capabilities. Most motherboards will do 100 MHz FSB simply because they
were designed to also work with P3s of the same generation which ran
natively on the 100 MHz bus.

So just try setting the FSB upto 100, and run the chip at 900. Make sure
that any dividers e.g. PCI and AGP get set correctly. Also ensure your
memory is PC100 or better. You may need to increase the voltage (+0.1V is
harmless, +0.2V is likely harmless, above is getting risky).

If that doesn't work then see if it is possible to reduce the FSB from 100
to 90 or so, but keeping the dividers for 100 MHz. If you can't keep the
1/3 PCI divider at that speed, you'll probably have to reduce the FSB
considerably to perhaps 75-80 MHz, or you'll be running the PCI bus too
fast, and most systems aren't too happy with that.

I had 2 celeron 600s. The first wouldn't run stably at 900, which was quite
unlucky; most do. However I was lucky to find someone with the same chip
and a motherboard that only OCed upto 75MHz FSB, and he was kind enough to
swap chips. That one ran happily at 900, and even ran upto about 954
stably, and POSTed at 1008.

I have one that will run happily at 810 Mhz (90Mhz FSB) and 1.65v (Default
is 1.5v). It refuses to run at 900 on a 100Mhz FSB even when I up the
voltage to 1.75. (I have a celly 900 that has a default vcore of 1.75v.)
That one is designed to run on a 100Mhz FSB and has an integrated
heat-spreader over the core (The 600's core is bare). Both are Coppermine
0.18 micron. I was hoping to get 900 out of the 600 but alas, it doesn't
seem to want to go that high.

BTW, when I say 'run happily' I mean tested with Prime95 torture test.

If your celly isn't going to do 900 with default vcore and you don't
have a voltage adjust option, you could soldier around a bit. It's
difficult though, you will have to connect some pins of your
processor. (Read the warnings, know what you're doing...) Only do this
if you can afford to lose your Computer. (Celeron 600 can't be
replaced easily these days)

Well I have a Celeron600 OC'ed to 900 on a ASUS P2B (one of the first
Mobo's to feature the 440BX chip for these who remember) Since the
Mobo only does 1.8 Vc I had to run it with 1.8 Vc. It's stable for
years now. I'm posting from it... <g>

here's some info about the pins. (at the time I had a better source,
but it's gone and I've forgotten..)
