first of all.. here's my spec..
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad-Core 2.4GHz 8MB
Zalman CPU Cooler CNPS9700NT (Intel775&AMD AM2/939/754)
ASUS P5KC (CF,4DDR2&2DDR3,1394,2PCI-E,GbLAN)
2gb ballistix tracer ddr2 8500 ram
2x 500gb hard driver
msi geforce 8800gt 512mb
CoolerMaster eXtreme Power 650Watts
NZXT Nemesis Elite Case (Black)
i don't think my room is hot. but even at default setting my temp is 51,50,45,45 with coretemp. and when i run prime95
it goes up to 90 in 30 mins(no error though).
then i overclocked it to 3ghz at from 1.225 to 1.3 my idle temp is like 65,60,53,53 and fail prime 95 in matter of seconds. i tried 2.8 ghz at 1.15 to 1.25 idle temperature was 52,51,47,47 but fails prime95 in 15 mins or so..
right now, i am at 2.7ghz all voltage set auto and getting
about 57,55,49,49 and ran prime95 without error for 15 mins.
why is my temperature so high? tcase max is 100.
can any q6600 + p5kc user help me here? >> Stay informed about: need help overclocking.. q6600, asus p5kc. =( |

| ahh.. well.. never mind. i finally figured out what the heck is wrong with this thing. it's thermal grease on my cpu. it must have been frozen when they shipped the computer(or maybe they forgot to put it enough. i took zalman fan out and saw thermal greases were all dried up so i put some more and it all fixed my problem. i am currently running at 3.2ghz @ 1.375v and everything seems to be working just fine. idle at 44, 43, 37, 35 and loaded at 60, 61, 55, 56 highest, i am running prime 95 for 30 mins now. darn.. i just hope all that forced shut down or running prime 95 at 80c+ didn't hurt my system even though i was for few days. =(
