i've been asked if a computer will accept a 160gb hard disk. it currently
has a 60gig. It is a pentium III mobo with a via apollo 133a chipset. But
the lady doesn't know the actual maker of the board. Her current drive has
died so she can't run any diagnosis programs. I'd like to know what these
boards can typically deal with with regard to hard disk sizes. or a dos
based program that would let me identify the board so i could look it up on
the manufactuerers site ta.

There is a BIOS code on the first POST page that will help identify the
mobo maker!
Visit this page <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.wimsbios.com/" target="_blank">www.wimsbios.com/</a> and it will I.D. your motherboard based on
the BOS brand and this "string".
