Need help. Just assembled a new K7S5A-Pro, xp2100+
cd-burner
cdrom
Win XP
40gig Maxtor
256 met 2100 Kingston v/r.
400-watt generic p/s w/sufficient rail-readings(3-volt>28 amps etc.)
All installed ok, but there's a yellow 'mark' by the USB in Device
Manager. Tried using driver enclosed from ECS w/the Pro-board, & I cannot
get it to install. I'm confused by the "usb 2.0 vs. the sis/usb2.0"-choices
under USB on the setup disc..
Will someone please give me a 1,2,3-approach to installing the USB 2.0
device?
All else seems fine. TIA, sdlomi2. >> Stay informed about: How to install USB drivers on K7S5A-Pro? |

If you have a fast connection (Cable or DSL)
try running windows update, that might get you the latest USB drivers

You'll need XP SP1a to get the USB2.0 drivers.

Thx to you, Tod & Cari for your help. After I installed SP1, the USB's
began to work. Prolly would have had I installed SP1A, instead. But MS
says to not install 1A if 1 has already been installed--the only difference
being 1A omits the VM (virtual machine) that SP1 includes. sdlomi2<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: How to install USB drivers on K7S5A-Pro? |

It omits the VM update.... it doesn't remove MS-JVM if you already have it.
If you already have the JVM the update will be offered at the WindowsUpdate
site instead. It was some legal thing after the Sun lawsuit that effected
the change from SP1 to SP1a.
