Here are my CPU stats:
Intel P4 3.2GHz
1.5 GB dual-channel memory
Plenty of HD space
NVidia GeForce FX 5500 128MB video card
Using an Airlink KVM 4-port switch with PS/2 plugs

Wanna hear something different???

I heard sirens coming from the is7 when I was doing some video
rendering, so I thought it wasn't supplying enough wattage and the case
was hot because I have 4 HDs, 2 DVD burners but only 1 fan. I found a
new case with a better power supply and had 5 fans installed.

As I installed the mobo into the new case, I had to force the mobo to
move so the screws could work in the grooves.

I turned it on, and worked okay for a minute. Then I lost keyboard and
mouse control. I rebooted the computer and I got into Windows but no
mouse or keyboard control. I unplugged the mouse and keyboard from the
PS/2 ports and went USB into the computer. I never made it to the
Windows boot screen- it got to the last display of BIOS settings then
BLACK. Now - here's the funny part - I plug in the PS/2 ports from the
KVM switch AND keep the USB keyboard and mouse hooked up. WHAH-LA!!
things work NORMALLY.

After reading a few articles on this issue, somebody said to take the
mobo out and check it. I tried that and even installed it into the old
case. All I get to work is to have the PS/2 ports plugged in from the
KVM switch and the USB keyboard and mouse hooked into the USB ports.

I'm going to try to trade it in for a new mobo, but was trying a last
desperate cry 4 help. THANKS.

the sirens were likely the system getting too warm, either the CPU or
another sensor, during the video rendering. as for the PS/2 versus USB KB
and mouse, not too sure what to make of that given there are a lot of
variables involved such as, did you set the bios for KB and mouse support or
did you leave that support to OS?

did you try booting with NO KB and mouse?
