Hi all,

Ive just been given a pc to fix wi5th the ecs k7s5a mobo, I have taken all
components from the pc except the agp card and it refuses to boot just
giving me 8 beeps.
I have swapped the agp card for another and even tried a pci graphics card
and still no joy.
I have cleared the cmos and pulled the battery with the mains unplugged to
be sure and still no luck.
Does anyone have any clue on what i could do or do u think the board has
given up?

Thanks for any suggestions

Rom checksum error.
Could be an amateur attempted to flash the BIOS.
Copy a known good BIOS rom to a freshly formatted floppy.Rename the
file to amiboot.rom
Re-boot system with the floppy in and bugger off for half an
hour.System may look like it's doing nothing but if you are lucky BIOS
boot block will allow the emergency re flash as per,

Or the Flash chip could be knackered Sad
If successful with EFD pull power cord out and clear the CMOS as a
fail safe.
