I have the same model of the subject board that you have and I'm operating
with an XP2400+ with no problems. You will have to upgrade the BIOS to
version 02/08/09.

If you can find a 133FSB 2600 you'll be OK but the chip is believed to be
mythical only.
The K7S5A can only really run 133FSB chips so I wouldn't go over the 2400+.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: old k7s5a |

This is great news to me.
I checked the ECS url and their compatibility chart indicates that the
K7S5A's would only handle a 2100+.
But then there's a column entitled ".13 micron" which indicates they go up
to 2600+. Does this mean _all_ K7S5A's handle a 2600+, or that something
changed in the manufacture?

It can take a 2600+ Xp chip if it runs at 266. That version of the chip is
hard to find. Or u can run a Barton on the board, but u will have to
underclock it.
I am running a 2400+ on my version 1 board. I am using Cheepoman bios.

If you want to find a 2600+/266 in the US, search www.pricewatch.com.
