any one know why my dvd rom and dvd burner do not show up in the bios
but the work in windows. However thay are only using pio mode. Is it
possible to switch on udma 1,2,3,4,5? Please help this is driving me
insane.

it is not unusual for the burners to not show in the bios of some of the
Abit boards but the drives are usually declared at boot time. just be sure
that the IDE channels are set for Auto for mode and detection in the bios
screens and from there, you should be able to set the IDE Primary and
Secondary channels in Device Manager for DMA if available on the Advanced
Settings tab in Device Manager.

If you don't see those settings being available, then you may need to delete
the IDE channels and allow them to be redetected upon reboot and then they
should show the settings available on the Advanced tab in Device Manager.

If you have installed the software for the burner it may have changed you to
PIO mode. You'll have to reset it. Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD did this to my WD

I have vhecked all that, still no joy so i simply moved the dvd,
burner and cdrw to the ide 1 &2 and the hadr disks to the raid. all
working now<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
