Nice, that you used a barton mobile!!
Do you have an idea whats the fastest processor you could problably use in
this mobo?

And why did you use the modded bios 9a?
(Can I find it myself?)

Also, did you need to use SP1 for adding the usb2.0 card and did you have to
disable usb 1 in the bios before installing this card?
If so, in what order?

Thanx,Erik<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

hello Erik,

here's what i posted a few days ago about using the xp-m:

i tried to get all out of this board and so i did some things.
first was to get multipliers more than 12.5 with a little wiretrick:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=279392" target="_blank">http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=279392</a>
the xp-m 2600+ boots at multiplier 6 by default and there's no other
way to get high multis because of the missing 5th fid bit.

after that the cpu boots with 20*100 and the only stable multiplier
with fsb 133 and higher was 17 (mapped from 9).
because of poor and ultrasilent air-cooling the processor got to warm
for me @2266 with 1.6v vcore, so i decided to put some more wire into
the socket:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://fab51.com/cpu/barton/athlon-e20.html" target="_blank">http://fab51.com/cpu/barton/athlon-e20.html</a>
i connected pin number aj27 with vcc_core and an25 with ground.
after that i got multiplier 15 (mapped from 9), 16 (mapped from 10)
and 16.5 (mapped from 10.5) - all strong with a fsb of 133 and more.
so at the moment the xp-m runs at 2133 with 1.5v vcore - solid as rock
and noiseless with acceptable temperatures.

thanks to Wes Newell.
please have a look at his website:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm" target="_blank">http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm</a>
the fastest cpu i think should be with a multiplier of 24, but i don't
know whether it runs with fsb 133 or just 100. fatest solid multiplier
with fsb 133 i've seen myself is 17 (2200mhz).

about the bios:
i did it myself by using cbrom and modbin6 to see my personal epa-logo
at boot-up, to change some hidden features in the default bios and to
insert a new bios for the highpoint raid controller. if you want so i
can e-mail it to you or you can search for the programs yourself.

about the cheep usb 2.0:
i use windows 2000 pro with sp4 installed - inserted the card, installed
the drivers and was able to use the external usb2.0 hard disk without
any problem.
at the moment onboard usb is disabled because of freeing some resources,
but these 5 usb2.0 ports work in both cases - with onboard usb dis- and
enabled.

kind regards from germany,
Erik (TM) Wink<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

So, without the wiretrick the xp-m-2600+ boots only at 800Mhz speed?

Would it still be too hot with a common cooler?

Wow, you made a lot of wires there!
I don't think I am able to clone it. So I think I am stuck at 2266 although
it also sound quit impressive.

I suppose I don't need a modded bios because I don't use the highpoint
controllers.
I often copy files from one directory to another directory and it slowered
the process when using raid.
Using raid I only found a speed increase of about 25% on my WD 7200tpm 8M
cache harddisks.

I'll try to disable usb first and then upgrate to SP1 because I read several
problems using a usb2.0 card on this board.
Maybe it will work then.

Thanx a lot.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

kt7a and xp cpu - Is it still the case that KT7A's will take all XP CPU's? I am looking to AMD Athlon XP2800+ 2.083GHz 333MHz, 512KB Barton in my KT7A. Is there a problem with running it on a 266MHz bus? Will I get full speed (or more) out of it? TIA for the advice.

kt7a and xp-m 2600+ - hello, to make it short: bought a xp-m 2600+, put it in the kt7a, had to do a wiretrick (grounded AJ27) to get multipliers of 13 and above. with fsb 133 only 17 booted (2266mhz @ 1.6v). my question is now: what shell i do to get 15 ... 16.5 with fsb..

XP-M 2500+ or XP 2400+ for KT7a - I've been thinking about this off and on for a while now, but would I be beter putting one of these (XP-M 2500+) http://www.cpucitystore.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=392 or one of these (XP 2400+) ..

KT7A Ver 1 Question - Will the KT7A ver. 1 be compatible with a Western Digital WD800JB which is a 7200 rpm IDE Ultra ATA100 with 8mb cache ? I want to create a backup drive. The price for the drive seems right. Thanks
