Is it still the case that KT7A's will take all XP CPU's?
I am looking to AMD Athlon XP2800+ 2.083GHz 333MHz, 512KB Barton in my KT7A.

Is there a problem with running it on a 266MHz bus?

Will I get full speed (or more) out of it?

TIA for the advice.

It's still the case, but many new Bartons are multiplier-locked, which means
it's a lot trickier to match the settings and/or overclock.

Depending on what you're running now, it might be safer, not to mention
cheaper, to get an XP 2100+ (all unlocked) and overclock to 2 ghz or better.

See the link in the sig of any Wes Newll post for details on how all this
works.

No, but it won't run any faster than a 2500+, which is cheaper, and easier
to install. Both would need a multiplier mod.

As long as it's a pre week 0339, which shouldn't be internally locked,
then you can get full speed and more. Any 0339 and later are multiplier
locked internally, and there's no way to unlock them. You can mod them to
mobile units, but it's not a solution I would take when Unlocked ones are
still availible and there are other alternatives.

Save $50 and get a 2500+ or 2600+. It won't make any difference.
