You shouldn't have to remove the battery. All you have to do is move the
jumper to clear the cmos and the move it back. It should take only a matter
of a second of two. You might want to make sure everything is seated into
the motherboard properly. I'd pull all the cards and reseat them. I'd do the
same with the ram. The next thing to check is your power supply. It may have
gone bad.
