Hi! Does anyone have the above mobo and uses generic memory modules with
it? If so are they any good? Also I have seen several sites that advertise
memory with the manufacturer named as "Major Brand", I take it this is not
an actual company but as it says a major brand of memory?

Thanks

Got the KT4 board with some 2100 generic memory, cant set the FSB for the
(Barton) processor above 133 (266) without it becoming unstable even with
the memory set at the right speed.
Ordering some faster DDR 400 Kingston memory tommorow.

since thats the speed of your mem it should not be a surprise. You really
need 2700 or better to run at 333 or higher.

It shouldnt make a difference, as you can set the memory speed seperately to
the FSB in the Bios (unless I'm Missing something)

It might not make a difference, but he said that he was running "generic"
2100 memory which in my book usually says it will run at rated speed but
probably not much higher and even then you'll have to slow the timing down
so much that the increased speed will be off set. (i.e. 133 @cas 2 is
acutally faster than 150 @cas3) Probably not a lot of overhead on the speed
to allow it to go much higher. He could try adding voltage BUT what's the
point? He will never have any chance of running that Barton at 333 and
higher without good 2700 or 3200 memory. I much prefer Corsair, myself.
