I cannot beleive it. I spoilt my cd-r drive.

I had 2 cd writers connected - a scsi compro 4x (CW-7502)and a 48x tdk
cyclone cd-rw and dvd combo drive.

I downloaded liteon flash 1.1.2 for removing the rpc from the dvd
drive. I ran the exe, which had no instructions. My system hung, and
the scsci drive light went on. Obviously, somehow the liteon utility
was accessing the scsi channel rather than the ide channel.

I waited 5 minutes, and still couldn't recover, so I rebooted. And
now, I've lost the use of the scsi writer. It's totally unrecognizable
by windows, and cannot read cds either. The busy light never goes off.

I got hold of a new cw-7502 firmware and tried flashing it again, but
after I am prompted for the scsi channel, it gives me a 'drive not
ready' error.

Can I still save this drive?

Maybe.

Since you have a copy of the firmware, if you get a hold of a copy of
mktflash, you might be able to force a flash of the flash-rom. It's
how people overclock liteon cdrw drives, so it should be easy to find.
Don't know if it will work for the DVD drive, but I suppose it's worth
checking out.
