Post subject: Old monitor + new PC

Is it going to work, 10 years old monitor with brand new PC. For now I can
only get it to work at 640x480 otherwise it shows some shaking lines.
(Pentium 4 GForce 4 Win 9Cool

I would not fool around...
you can get a new crt at a good price...
it'll be a *lot* better!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Well it might do 800x600, if you drop the refresh rate... it might default
to a higher rate than the monitor accepts so you'll have to do some Google
searching for how to force it down to 56Hz, which is what many monitors of
that era needed to do 800x600.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yer probably at the limit.

A good used 15" sells for about $20. Go for it!

Around here, you can get a new 17" for about $49...after rebates.

a few 14" monitors went to 800x600, 15's had a few @ 1024x768
