Post subject: Further observations on the P5P800
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>asus (more info?)

After further testing with this motherboard I found two other things to
be careful with.
The first is that the board does not seem to be supported by Motherboard
Monitor 5. Older versions show the temperature correctly but the
voltages are way wrong. It will show over 16 volts for the +12 volt
line while Probe shows a little over 12 volts. The board is not in
there data base. The newest version locked up trying to start it and I
finally had to reboot the system and remove it.
The other observation is that the placement of the CPU at the top of the
board means that a lot of mid-tower cases will be a problem. My
previous case was a mid-tower and I could not get the idle temperature
down below the mid 50's on my 3.4 GHz Prescott. Putting the board in a
full tower lowered the temperature over 10 degrees. The previous case
had the CPU directly under the power supply which heated the power
supply up and also screwed up the air flow.
