I had a problem with explorer.exe and had to reinstall windows me,
windows came preinstalled on the hd I only have a floppy to reinstall
windows
I think this is called "windows embedded"?.

I first started fdisk and saw that I have 2 partitions already no1 1143 MB
non dos
and no2 27005 MB fat32.
So I deleted partition no2 and created a new primary dos partition of 22005
MB
and Created an Extended DOS Partition [using all remaining space]
I then Created a Logical DOS Drive in the Extended DOS Partition

restarted the pc and formatted the primary dos partition and the Extended
DOS Partition restarted the pc again with the floppy,

I now have
no1 1143 MB
no2 primary dos partition of 22005 active
and no3 Extended DOS Partition with an Logical DOS Drive in the Extended
partition

using the floppy it loads smartdrv, mstools etc etc then says file not
found- C:\drivers\mcdbf\source1\oemsetup.exe
Exit from oemsetup

any ideas

Brendan
using packard bell Aloha

p.s this first partition that was already on the disk before I started the
1143 MB non dos what is this ?. and can it be deleted

Brendon, I am not sure, but I have a theory. My guess is that your
windows and other software installation images are in that 1143 MB non
dos partition. Your floppy probably wants to access the files on that,
but it can't because you can only have one c: drive which is the new
active partition that you created. The files on the 1143 mb partition
are then hidden. I assume there is a readme file on the floppy that
explains how to rebuild your hard drive, so you should read it. If
not, call PB tech support (if such a thing exists) and let them tell
you how to do it. Or even better check their website, and I would hope
there would be instructions on how to do it. The only other thing I
can think of for that partition would be a hibernation file, but the
first theory seems more likely. You may have to delete the new (assume
empty) partitions that you made, and let the program build them for
you. Just a guess. In any case I would not delete the 1143 partition.
