Hello,
I just installed a Matrox Millenium P650 in my new system. The display is
ugly. I installed latest drivers and bios but it did nothing.
While the POST, there are vertical stripes.
Same while Windows loads (one brown character, one white ...) On Windows
splash screen I have also vertical brown and white stripes.
When I select a window (for moving it aroud the desktop), that window was
yellow shaded. Same with an icon, lets a yellow trail on desktop
background.
Buttons on explorer taskbar have red background. When I hover over a button
with the mmouse cursor, like two ladders appears left and rigth of the
cursor and move with it.
(a lot more ...)
My system has an Asus P4C800 mobo (latest driver v 1010.004 date 07/21/2003)
Windows 2000 Pro SP4
P650 bios : 976, version 1.2-10 date 06/18/2003 driver (certified): 1.4.2.7
date 06/06/2003
I have a single analog monitor.
When i put an old Matrox Millenium PCI card in, all run smooth and well.
Has someone any advice, seen something like that ?
Thanks all, (and sorry for my bad english)

Christian
I had the same problem with the P650 on
my P4C800 motherboard.
It is a documented problem and has something
to do with the POST video signal.
Matrox does have a fix which I just tried last
week and worked fine. No problems with it now
at all. You can find the fix on the Matrox site.

Sorry Christian... its a BIOS update found in the
BIOS section on the Matrox site.
Here is what it says...
File is called setup_p103.exe
Jun. 18, 2003
483 KB
Matrox Setup and Utilities (v.1.03.00.006)
Supports Matrox Parhelia, Millennium P750 and
Millennium P650. Implements a fix that allows
Parhelia Series and Millennium P-Series users to
view posts during boot-up
This should do the trick.
This link might take you directly to the right
bios section.

Thanks Waren,
I have not sayed it explicitly in my first msg, but i have updated the P650
with the latest BIOS (976, version 1.2-10).
And not only have i pbs at boot time (the POST garbage was gone with the
bios update, but not completely; the vertical stripes stay here) but also
under Windows. And Matrox, in the readme.txt that comes with the bios
update, say: "Problems with VBE display modes don't affect any software that
uses a Matrox display driver (for example, Windows software)"
So, ...

Hello,
I receved today the response from Matrox technical support. They sayed
that's probably a hardware problem and that i should return the card for
replacement.
Thanks all for your attention.
