Using a mobo, ram, hard drive, a case, a bunch of cables, a psu, maybe even
a video card. However you should know that due to the fact it is already
built. Let us know the results.

http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/Build.htm

For all things to do with computers this one of the best sites I have
ever visited. No - it is nothing to do with me personally.

Looks good. Thanks, I had just been asked for a good reference site.

It is VERY difficult for a first timer, and you should buy a computer
amagazine or book that goes into great detail if you want to be successful.

I has most of this stuf already. Can I use the left over cables from my televison, or do I ned special ones?
I do not mind altering them - I hav a soldering iron and a mig welder. If I dont want to watch videos do I still ned the video card
thing?

Well, that is encouraging Smile Talk abour rocket science...

Seeing as the motherboard comes with a manual, connectors are reasonably
unique, front panel wiring has labels on it, how did any of us ever manage
to turn a screwdriver and finish a box ?

The hardest part is selecting good hardware, and avoiding the temptation to
cheap out on everything. The OP can always prepare an exact list of the
hardware they think would make a good computer, post it in a hardware
group, and someone should be able to assist with weeding out the really
bad choices. (It helps to mention what kinds of intended applications will
be used (gamer box, web surfer box, MS office only, etc), so we have some
idea whether the hardware is a good fit for the intended use.) The rest of
it is screwdriver work, and no worse than trying to put together Ikea furniture Smile

And if the OP has an existing computer, opening the side of that computer
and using it as a "reference" on what the assembly should look like, will
give a few hints.
