Post subject: ping -ip reply errors
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>networking (more info?)

My network with a wireless Linksys WRT51AB router consists of 2 Laptops
and one desktop PC.

Desktop is BYO
One Laptop is presently called david-2 and other is david-3.

Different ip addresses reply to 'pinging david-2' depending upon which
PC I ping from.

My question is how can I purge all caches?? on all three PC's and in the
router so when 'pinging david-2' on different PCs, the replies are
always the correct IP address?

Specific IP addresses for each PC on this home network are:

There are 3 PCs in the network, BYO, david-2, david-3
BYO only has a 'wired' adapter.
david-2 and david-3 each have 'wired lan' and 'wireless lan' adapters.

IP addresses from ipcinfig /all are
david-2 192.168.1.36 is wired and .37 is wireless
david-3 .35 is wired and .34 is wireless
BYO is .40 wired [no wireless on this PC]

When BYO pings david-2 192.168.1.36 replies ...wired nic
When BYO pings david-3 .35 replies ...wired nic

When david-2 pings david-2 .37 replies ...wireless nic
When david-2 pings david-3 .34 replies ...wireless nic
When david-2 pings BYO .40 replies

When david-3 pings david-2 .37 replies ...wireless nic
When david-3 pings david-3 .35 replies ...wired nic
When david-3 pings BYO .40 replies.

Not only am I confused, but pinging david-2 causes different ip
addresses to reply depending upon from which PC I do the ping.
How can this be repaired? Thank you Dave_s
