I was looking at a few from Thermaltake, and OCZ. Im looking for at least
500W and a 2 fan supply to drag heat from my processor. Thanks.

The best, most stable, and most reliable: Antec 550 Watt True Power supply.

Only one fan but it's a top of the line power supply not a cpu cooler.

Well... I have a case with 6 fans and I just want more airflow lol. It
helps, especially when its a 120mm fan lol.

If you really need 500W PSU (which is pretty hard to "need"
even with most full tower setups), it's then understandable
to have 6 fans especially when they're optimized for lower
RPM, quieter operation. Main issue then is which parts are
most susceptible to the heat.

Suppose you have a very well stocked/modern system that
manages to use 350W at full load. At 70% PSU efficiency
that's 150W of heat created in the power supply... it may
not be ideal to have the power supply drawing in air
pre-heated from the CPU. If it's that difficult to keep CPU
cool enough there may be other alternatives like room AC,
water cooling, a better heatsink, or a duct to either pull
in cooler air or more directly remove heated air out the
back of the case.

A second advantage to PSU not having a fan on the bottom is
that there's more room inside. Past about 400W it gets
pretty cramped in any PSU actually capable of sustaining
it's rated wattage, adding a 2nd fan can be good for
marketability but bad overall for the power supply design.
Antec is one of the better models you could choose though if
you did want one with a fan on the bottom, but if your case
is roomy enough there may be another alternative too, taking
a PSU without the bottom fan then cutting out a fan hole,
mounting a fan on the outside wall of the power supply
casing. This may allow a thicker, more efficient fan and if
it'll fit next to the CPU heatsink, it'll be nearer to it so
a larger percentage of 'sink exhaust is drawn away than if
the fan were recessed inside and further away. However for
the benefit of the power suppply this may mean the PSU needs
higher flow rate to remain at same temp... the heat has to
go somewhere.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I see... I am planning on buying an FX55/ system (nforce4 mobo when it
comes) and deul 6800GT in SLI mode. So I realy need the power considering 4
hd's in RAID and 4 optical drives (usualy not working at the same time) 2
(4x 512) gigs of XMS with 2.0 timings and a few add-in cards like Audigy ZS,
TV card, and other things like joystick, steering wheel, and so on lol. So
yeah... Power can be an issue here. I'm just worried about the double 6800's
sucking so much power, and you can see why I need the airflow. Heck... I
just may have to "jerry rig" 2 PS's in there. My case has the room Wink

Thanks for the advice.

PS. I'm am not rich, just a student with a job that would rather spend
money on a computer than a car Wink My girl would rather me spend the money
on her, but, shes already spoiled Wink

PSS. I was just thinking, I could have 2 moderate systems for that kind of
money... AH! screw it! I want FX!!!

PSSS. I should think more on my own than wasting space on this post.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You'd end up with more power and more bang for the buck by
getting two power supplies, perhaps a couple of 350W
Sparkles, since the case will accomodate them both. That
is, assuming the dual 6800GTs have the external power supply
connector which I thought they did but at the moment am not
100% certain of. Not only is it more sustainable power but
lower thermal density per PSU and double exhaust... I use
two psu in the box I'm typing on right now.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Cooling your processor is the job of the CPU HSF. Best PSU, IMO?

Very Nice !! I like the Deluxe model.. but $220 for a PSU is well beyond my
budget... ($100 is too much for me..)
