What is the fastest processor that is available that can be used with a
P4C800-E mother board. My system is kind of slow so I was thinking of
upgrading the processor. Windows especially bogs my system down though
not as much with Linux though it still seems slower than my dual core
system with a slower processor of 2.0GHz instead of a the 2.4GHz that I
have installed on the P4C800-E. I would like to speed it up slightly if
it is possible.

There are several at 3.4GHz for S478.

You would have to find a used CPU on EBay or somewhere because Intel stopped
producing CPU's that work in that board a while ago. (Note: I admit it's
possible that a BIOS upgrade, always dangerous for the motherboard's health,
might allow you to use a Pentium D chip. I'm not sure.)

Hi,

If you are in the USA, try
http://www.starmicro.net/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=28 for a socket
478 3.4GHz OEM processor...
