Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>videocards>nvidia (more info?)

since updating my drivers (ive been stuck with 43.45 omega drivers for
a few months now) i loose all my refresh rates in the monitor settings
and geforce settings panel and can only choose 60hz no matter what.
All these refresh rate fix programs do not work!!! seems like any new
version of drivers i install, it wipes out every available refresh
rate other than 60hz. I've tried re-installin/uninstallin my monitor
driver and reverted back to the plug n play default one, still no
luck.

i was wondering where in the registry are the refresh rates stored?

Cheers, Rob.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\MODES
Look at the entries for various resolutions under modes and you will see
the possible refresh rates. These are supposed to be used in conjunction
with your monitor data to determine the range of acceptable rates.

Your best bet is to uninstall the 43.45 drivers and reinstall them. This
does not mean switch to VGA and back to nVidia but switch to VGA and
then uninstall the nVidia drivers using ControlPanel/AddRemove for
nVidia or Omega whichever is listed.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If your monitor is detected as 'plug and play monitor' then this is normal
behaviour. You need to re-install your monitor driver after any install of
Nvidia drivers - it should show up in the list of monitor drivers available
and once installed you get the correct list of refresh rates available for
your specific monitor.
