why my system hangs after some beaps

Hi All,
I have a problem in my PC. My PC is a assembled P4 with 256 Ram, ASUS Intel Chipset Motherboard and two hard drives 20 GB seagate and 80 GB seagate hard drive. I purchased it 2 years before. Now these days I am having a problem that my system hangs after two beaps and if I restart the system it doesn't detect hard drives and only after completely shut down the power and then start system it shows it. I faced it so many times recently. I want to know what is the problem and how to solve it. I also want to tell that my UPS is down so I am using it directly from the power.

Which board and chipset exactly?
