| I put a new processor in my gigabyte board, I didn't clear the cmos and
only the fan and lights turned on. I cleared the cmos and now the
thing won't do anything at all. Is it fried, is it the battery?

The only way to diagnose is keep swapping out parts with known good. Be sure
nothing is shorting MB on bottom. Be sure you plugged front panel connectors
ok. A mis-placed front panel connector can fry a motherboard. Only have MB,
CPU, PS, RAM and video card. Swap until working.

Thanks I will try this weekend, I also ordered a voltage meter, where
should I stick that? I already took the power supply apart before to
put in a good quiet fan, should I take it out and test the power supply
by itself?

I've been bitten by AGP 2X video cards, and having USB cable reversed. Oh
the embarrassment!

Ensure the cpu fan is plugged securely into the "cpu-fan-outlet" on your
mobo. Mobo needs to sense that connection or it will refuse to boot to
protect the cpu. HTH, s.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Won't turn on, not even fan |
