Have a pcchips m726 motherboard with ATI Rage Pro II card.

Would like get a cheap card with tv-out but understand that mobo AGP
is v1 and so AGP 2 and 4 are not going to work. Any recommendations?
Anyone have something working in this board?

The m726 is an AGP 1.0 board, which means that it supports 2X. It's
also a POS--if you've got a video board in it that is working, stick
with it--I understand that its AGP implementation is not very good and
doesn't work with every video board that it's supposed to work with.

Go to a computer show and pick up a machine with a real BX board for 20
bucks or so and move any pieces you need to move and you'll end up a lot
happier all around. Among other things you'll be able to use just about
any video board with a reasonable expectation that it will work.

You are right of course. I was hoping to bung a dvd player in and a
new graphics board but it seems the POS board is not fond of either.
Searching turned up endless posts about dvd dma problems and TNT2
problems but someone seemed to be happy with a Hercules Prophet 4500
which appears to me to be a newish card!

Cant see any BX boards anywhere in my computer mags/papers. As you say
maybe a visit to a fair. I'm now wondering about a motherboad with
built in graphics/sound/lan....<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
