I am using an Optiquest Q95-2 monitor. Recently whenever I turn the system
"On" it randomly boots up with no video displayed. If I hit the power
switch "Off" then "On" again, the video returns normally. It doesn't do
this every time but it is becoming worse. It also happens occasionally
during a system reboot whether it is a cold or warm boot. This has only
started doing this within the last two months. I have recently switched
this system from a Win2K to a WinXP OS but I had already noticed the problem
before the switch. Any ideas what could be causing this besides the monitor
is going bad?
FWIW, I am powering up the system using a master switch unit(Fellowes brand)
that includes a surge protector.

I would open the case and check the main circuit board
for bad solder connections, especially in the area of the
on/off switch.

Maybe I wasn't clear but I don't use the monitor power switch to power cycle
the monitor but instead have it also hooked up to the power strip.(i.e. one
switch turns on everything) I'm not sure that the power switch is at fault
here since I never touch it normally except to power cycle to get normal
video after initial failure.
