Hi all, I'v bought a GA-N650sli-DS4 and I intend to use watercooling with this
setup. I've got a chipset waterblock to replace the huge northbridge heatsink
next to the cpu which, several reviewers claimed, would depend on the cpu fan
to be effective. I am not sure about the mosfets though that are sitting
towards the rear edge and the top edge of mobo adjacent to the cpu socket.
These have no cooling attached currently.

Any opinions if they will need passive cooling when they're not affected by the
cpu fan? I've got a C2D 6420 cpu and don't plan on excessive, if any,
overclocking, power needs should be modest. And the way they are set on the
pcb, I don't think they would normally benefit much from the centrifugal stock
cooler in any event. But I wouldn't mind a second or third opinion on this.

Won't assemble for a few days yet since I am still waiting on the
pump/radiator.

tia, -Peter

That NB heatsink is very affected by the Standard Intel
Heatsink..........that unit blows air down.
I installed a Thermalright HR-01 775 with a fan blowing towards the rear
case fan...........the temp on the NB jumped 8 degrees.
I am presently looking into purchasing a small fan like a Zalman FB 123 to
blow at that NB sink
The mosfets are not melting........even though they are now receiving less
airflow....but then they are almost in a direct line with the PSU exhaust
fan...120mm.
I run a E6420 in that board OC'd to 3200.........FSB at 400 some major
voltage increases.

Thanks, you give me confidence that I am headed in the right direction. The
Northbridge should benefit a great deal from the watercooling ... and it's good
news about the mosfets. I _had_ considered going with a 3rd party cpu cooler
and a passive GeForce 8600 gts but then decided in that scenario I might need a
northbridge fan possibly (anticipating a situation like yours), and the ambient
temp in the case would go way up, requiring all the fans to go faster ... with
the external Nautilus I'll get the heat right out of the case and have only one
fan going apart from the very quiet enermax psu. Some time next week .....
